Gunmen have killed at least six people in Congo, a village in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state.
Sources from the community who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, said one person who was injured in the attack, is in a critical condition and currently receiving medical attention.
According to residents, the incident occurred in the community’s market around 7pm on Tuesday, when the gunmen stormed the area and opened fire on the victims, shortly after the market had closed for the day.
Most traders and customers had left the premises, leaving a few behind.
Daily Trust reports that the incident has created yet another tension in the area, as various communities in Bokkos LGA have in recent times come under attack.
The Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, was yet to respond to inquiries by our correspondent as at the time of filing this report.
