A six-month-old baby, Abdulfatai Edu was abducted by a supposedly neighbour of the mother on Friday at Edu Compound, Bado, Isale Epe, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos.
The abductor, Miss Barakat Tolani Jimoh is the girlfriend and live-in lover of Rabiu Jueda Bashorun, a cleaner at the General Hospital, Epe, who is the neighbour of Miss Misturat Edu, the mother of the baby.
Miss Jimoh who had just lived with Mr Bashorun for just a month has become very friendly with the baby and his mother.
According to the baby’s mother, on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 9 am, Miss Jimoh told her she wanted to go and repair her phone at Aiyetoro, Epe and was going with the baby, a request the mother rejected.
“Later on, I went to the toilet and left my baby with her sister. When I came out, I could not find the baby again.
“The sister told me that Barakat Jimoh took my baby from her to Aiyetoro where she went to repair her phone.
“But after waiting for an hour and I did not see Barakat nor the baby, I went to Aiyetoro to look for her but could not find her or my baby,” Miss Edu narrated.
She later went to the Police Station to report the incident. Mr Bashorun, Barakat’s live-in lover told the police that he met her on social media and did not know her address or whereabouts.
When we called the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Benjamin Hundehin, he did not respond to our call nor did he respond to our WhatsApp message before this publication.
