    ABUJA – The Ministries of Solid Minerals and Steel Development celebrated the 2024 Customer Service Week in Abuja on Thursday, October 17, with the theme “Above and Beyond,” recognizing the exceptional service of civil servants who have consistently gone the extra mile.

    The event, held at the Ministers’ Conference Room, honored twenty-three staff members for their remarkable contributions, highlighting the Ministries’ commitment to delivering superior service.

    In his keynote address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Steel Development, Dr. Chris Isokpunwu, emphasized the civil service’s role in driving national development.

    Reflecting on the theme, he remarked that service within the civil service is not about individual recognition but about advancing collective progress. He lauded the awardees as embodiments of integrity and excellence, stating:

    “Today, we celebrate those who have gone above and beyond, embodying the principles of integrity, dedication, and excellence. Their work is a testament to the spirit that drives the Ministries.”

    Dr. Isokpunwu highlighted the critical role civil servants play in shaping policies and implementing programs that touch millions of lives. He encouraged all staff to embrace selfless service, stressing that their efforts were vital in bridging the gap between the government and the citizens, advancing national progress.

    The Director of SERVICOM, Mr. Victor Ewache, also praised the significance of the Customer Service Week, calling it a moment to reflect on outstanding service delivery. He urged the awardees to view their recognition as a motivation to strive for even greater achievements.

    The National Coordinator and CEO of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, added that customer service is essential to fostering a citizen-focused approach. She commended the Ministries for organizing the event and emphasized that excellent customer service qualities like empathy, integrity, and proactivity are key to positive experiences.

    The celebration concluded with remarks from the Spokesperson of the awardees, Mr. Ikechukwu Okoro, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the honorees. He pledged that the recognition would inspire continued dedication to service, reinforcing the Ministries’ commitment to excellence.

    This year’s event, marked with the vibrant theme colors of berry, goldenrod, azure, and midnight blue, symbolized the creativity, responsibility, and authority needed to deliver outstanding public service, underscoring the Ministries’ commitment to enhancing service delivery in Nigeria.
