Super Eagles’ World Cup hope is now in jeopardy as they crashed to 1-2 defeat to the Squirrels of Benin Republic on Monday.

The Squirrels, at the match played Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Ivory Coast, has former Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr, as their coach.

The Eagles have now drawn three matches and lost one, with just three points, placing 5th in Group C.

The Squirrels broke Nigeria’s heart three minutes into first half added time as Steve Mounie buried the ball inside the net, assisted by Mohamed Tijani.

The Eagles managed only one shot on target, which was the only goal they scored while Benin Republic scored two goals from their four shots on target.
