The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, on Saturday, called on residents of the state to vote for its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and other candidates of the party in the 2023 general elections.
The state Chairman of the party, Col David Imuse (retd.), who made the call at the commencement of the Edo South APC campaign where the candidates for the senatorial, four House of Representatives, and House of Assembly elections were officially unveiled at the Ekheuan Campus of the University of Benin, said the people of Edo would vote for the APC following the unfavorable leadership style of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Other chieftains of the party in attendance were the Deputy Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and former national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, two former deputy governors, Dr Pius Odubu and Lucky Imasuen.
Also present were the APC governorship candidate in the 2020 election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; former minority whip of the House of Representatives, Samson Osagie; former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Uyi Igbe; and a former member of the House of Representatives, Patrick Obahiagbon.
Imuse said, “The people we have in governance in the state are pretenders. They have come to destroy Edo State. It is only in Edo State that they will destroy a library and turn it into a supermarket. It is only in Edo State that they will convert a children’s ward in a hospital into another supermarket. Our markets are getting burnt. Last year Ekiosa got burnt and today, a part of that market has been converted to Jara supermarket, they want to drive away our market women from their markets.
“We wanted to place campaign materials on billboards, but they have refused to allow us to do so. We have carefully selected our candidates in the state. They will be led by our presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, so that we will win the presidential election and win all the seats in the state, from the Senate to the state House of Assembly.”
Also speaking, Oshiomhole said Tinubu remained the candidate most qualified to win the 2023 presidential election.
He added that the former Lagos State governor’s emergence would lead to improvement in the lives of Nigerians.
