Suspect nabbed for stabbing Delta man to death over rice

The Delta State Police Command says it has arrested 30-year-old Daniel Onyejekwe who stabbed one Christian to death over a rice argument.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, stated this on Thursday while confirming the incident, adding that the suspect had been arrested.
He said, They were fighting, so they injured themselves badly and one Christian died.
“It is confirmed and the suspect is in custody.”
PUNCH Metro reports that the two individuals had an argument leading to a physical fight between them in the Ogwanja area of Sapele on New Year’s Day following an altercation over rice between the two persons.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the suspect, Onyejekwe, picked a bottle and stabbed the deceased multiple times during the fight.
“Somebody was sharing rice at Boyo Road, Ogwanja in Sapele. In the process, Christian and Onyejekwe started dragging the rice which led to the fighting.
“He picked a bottle and stabbed Christian multiple times. Before the vigilante could rush him to the hospital, he was confirmed dead,” the witness narrated.
Our correspondent learnt the remains of the deceased had been taken to the mortuary pending an investigation.
