Leader of the 2023 Presidential supporters group of Bola Tinubu under the auspices of the Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), AbdulHakeem Adegoke Alawuje has asked Nigerians to be more patience with President Bola Tinubu, saying his seemingly harsh economic decisions will surely turn out sweeter in no distant time.
He said this in a press statement made available to newsmen on Thursday.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken decisions that none has ever taken in the history of Nigeria, he has taken bold decisions that many shy away from, and we are currently facing what we have never faced before. For sure, succour is nigh and permanent solution is at hand.
“Tinubu is not perfect, he is bound to make mistakes, but the truth must be told, he is doing the right thing. The subsidy is a fraud. A singular product cannot hold thousands of other products to ransome. Our foreign exchange reserve gets depleted daily because of subsidy.
“The President is fully ready to rescue Nigeria, Let’s work on our governors to support the president’s reform at this critical period. Let’s stand with him on Local Government autonomy. 36 governors cannot obstruct the way of the over 250 million citizens. Many governors, even from within his party – All Progressives Congress – are surreptitiously fighting the president and stabbing him at the back, because he took local government out of their grip. They want to keep suppressing the masses through the hijack of the LGs, but Tinubu says No!.
“Those of us who are close to the grapevine know what the President is passing through, and that is why we can never abandon him, despite his seemingly imperfections.
“Members of the DOJ are not blind followers of Mr President, however, we very much aware that taking hard decisions that previous Presidents were scared from taken will naturally inflict hardship never experienced before in Nigeria’s history. It is sure to trigger hunger and justifiable lamentations of citizens.
“But Nigerians must equally know that permanent relief that none has ever brought to us will soon follow. May Almighty God direct, assist and support Mr. President in this onerous task, just as we beseech him to grant us, the citizens, the steadfastness to whether the storm. Certainly, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. There is ease at the end of every hardship.
“What is left to us as citizens is to keep supporting our leaders with prayers and steadfastness.
“The question that must be asked is: what will Tinubu gain by punishing Nigerians? Why will he deliberately put citizens through the current crucible? Nothing of course, he is merely playing his role of a leader with foresight, striving to take his people out of fake life, erect befitting structures and build a reliable future.
“If he fails, all the current sacrifices of Nigerian will invariably be in vain, which will eventually endanger the future of the country.
“Without doubt, the present challenges has led many individuals who previously believed in Tinubu to revert to ethnic chauvinism, religions sentiment and party affiliations.
“DOJ as a group is populated by masses, hence, we cannot afford to be blind followers to any President if he means evil for our collective heritage or the future of our nation. Our belief and trust in Mr president is anchored on his capabilities.
“As at today, statistics show that Nigerian foreign reserve is increasing, inflation rate is decreasing, oil refineries are springing up, crude oil production is on the rise, Naira is stabilising, local and foreign loans are being paid, revenues are on the rise and government at all levels are smiling to the banks, just as civil servants are bracing up for the implementation of the minimum wage.
“All he needs is our prayers for God’s guidance. Above all, let’s not engage in riots, crises or violence. Let’s embrace dialogue, because Tinubu has listening ears.” The statement said.
