The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) has impounded 70 vehicles for severe violations of the state’s traffic laws.
The vehicles were seized in a series of coordinated operations targeting hotspots where reckless driving by commercial drivers frequently causes traffic congestion and public disturbance.
Taskforce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, cautioned motorists against reckless driving, emphasising that the agency under his leadership will not relent in enforcing environmental and traffic laws.

He noted that sustainable urban safety and security depend on citizens’ adherence to these laws.
The enforcement operations took place at Okuta Road Junction in Bariga, Oba Akran Road by Kodesoh Underpass in Ikeja, and Ladipo near Five Star along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.
CSP Akerele reaffirmed the agency’s stance against traffic indiscipline, stressing that traffic gridlocks are not a natural occurrence but a result of disregard for road safety.
