    Tennis legend, Martina Navratilova, who has been diagnosed with deadly throat and breast cancer has vowed to fight the ailment with all that she’s got.

    She is expected to begin treatment for the ailment in New York this month, according to the BBC.

    According to the 66-year-old, who had won 18 grand slam singles titles, the cancer was diagnosed at an early stage, giving her chances of survival

    She said the double whammy is serious, but fixable, saying she is hoping for a favourable outcome.

    “It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all I have got,” she added.

    According to a spokeswoman for the tennis player, “the cancer has been detected at the beginning so we are optimistic”.

    She the tennis legend would begin treatment this January.

    Navratilova noticed an enlarged lymph node in her neck during November’s WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Texas.

    A subsequent biopsy revealed stage one throat cancer.

    “Both of these cancers are in their early stages with great outcomes,” Navratilova’s representative Mary Greenham was quoted as saying.

    The Marca reports that last season, another tennis legend, Chris Evert announced that she was suffering from ovarian cancer.

    Also, Carla Suarez also recently overcame Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

    Other professionals who overcame the disease were the Colombian Catalina Castano, the Italian Francesca Schiavone, the Americans Nicole Gibbs and Vicky Duval and the Russian Alysa Kleibanova.
