A dramatic scene unfolded in the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) clashed with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The controversy began when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat at the Senate was relocated without her consent, prompting her to refuse to move.

As the Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno, brought the issue to the attention of Akpabio, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan forcefully demanded an explanation for the change.

“Why was my seat moved without my consent?” she asked, refusing to back down.

Despite Akpabio’s ruling in favor of the new seating arrangement, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan continued to protest, saying “I don’t care if I am silenced. I am not afraid of you. You have denied me my privilege.”

She further accused the Senate President of sidelining her and denying her opportunities to present bills.

The standoff escalated to the point where Akpabio ordered the sergeant at arms to escort her out, but interventions from fellow lawmakers eventually calmed the situation.

However, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan remained resolute, refusing to vacate her original seat.
