The Kano State Police Command has raised the alarm over intelligence reports indicating that terrorists are planning to carry out attacks on strategic public facilities in the state.
In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police urged residents to report suspicious movements and activities to the authorities promptly.
“Kano State Police Command, in liaison with other security agencies, has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to launch attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State,” the statement said.
The police advised residents to exercise caution and avoid crowded places as a precautionary measure to enable security operatives to identify and neutralise potential threats.
“In response, we hereby urge residents to exercise caution and avoid crowded places and environments until further notice as a preventive measure to enable security operatives identify and dislodge possible attackers,” Kiyawa stated.
The Command also announced that it had deployed a specialised team of experts to enhance security in the state.

“To ensure a peaceful Kano State, necessary security arrangements have been put in place. A team of experts from the Command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear units have been deployed to strategic locations and are on high alert,” the statement read.
Residents were provided with emergency contact details to report suspicious activities or items.

We encourage residents to report any emergency or suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station or contact the Kano State Police Command through the following emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, 09029292926,” Kiyawa added.
The statement assured the public of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties.
“The Kano State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and properties as well as maintaining law and order in Kano State. We appreciate the support and cooperation of the good people of Kano State and urge everyone to remain vigilant,” it concluded.
The police have called on residents to cooperate fully with security operatives to prevent any potential attacks and maintain peace in the state.
