Twelve-year-old Goodluck Tersoo, a rising tennis star from Benue has played himself into the semifinals of the boys 12 where he is the top seed and that of the boys 14 where he was given a wild card to play-up.
The highly talented, smooth hitting player who is dominating his age group justified the wild card into the 14s by winning all his three matches in the group stage to qualify for the semifinals. Tersoo will take on Ghazal Ashim from Oyo state in the Boys 12 semifinals and in the boys 14s, he will face Wisdom Effiong from the Uyo based GEUF Academy.
Atilola 11, who is playing far above her age, was registered for the 14s and given a wild card to play in the 16s. She breezed through the group’s stages of the 14s and in the 16s came from two sets down in the five set super tiebreak format to win 7-10, 9-11, 11-9, 10-3, 10-4.
All semifinal matches in the boys and girls 12s, 14s and 16s will be decided on Friday at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club which will also host the grand finale starting 1 pm on Saturday.
