Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and newly reinstated 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has advised the Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara to quickly embark on economic diversification from the oil and gas-based economy to achieve growth and development.
Sanusi made this call during the second day of the ongoing Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit at the Obi Wali International Centre, Port Harcourt.

He warned that relying solely on oil and gas resources will not lead to prosperity because the world is fast moving away from fossil fuels to Information Technology driven economy, adding that the oil and gas natural resources will one dry up one day.
Sanusi also stressed the importance of ensuring the security of investments, as investors will not deploy resources unless they see a conducive environment for their businesses.
He advised the state government to prioritize the design of education and skills training to improve its economy.
