President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). The announcement came shortly after Tinubu’s return from his trip to China.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement by Zakari Mijinyawa, Head of Strategic Communications at ONSA, who emphasized that the move reflects the government’s commitment to providing a stable, secure, and sustainable energy supply for Nigerians.

He holds degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School. His leadership experience in both public and private sectors, especially in the Niger Delta, is seen as a key asset.
The Energy Security Directorate, a newly established unit under ONSA, will focus on coordinating policies, protecting energy infrastructure, managing security risks, and building strategic partnerships in the energy sector.
As the new Director, Amachree will collaborate with government ministries, security agencies, energy regulators, international partners, and local community leaders to address Nigeria’s current and future energy needs, according to the statement.
