The presidency has denied a viral report that President Bola Tinubu has asked Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Yemi Cardoso, to resign.
A report by an online business publication had indicated that President Tinubu asked Cardoso to resign as the governor of CBN over his failure to revive the economy and shore up the value of the naira after one year in the saddle at the apex bank.

Quoting unnamed insiders, the publication said the President was disappointed that Cardoso failed to live up to his alleged promise in January this year to shore up the value of the Naira between N700 and N900 to $1 before May 29, 2024.
However, the presidency, in a one liner denial published by the Special Adviser to the President on media and strategy to President Tinubu on his X handle described the claims in the publication as a bundle of lies.
It’s all lies. President Tinubu has not asked Yemi Cardoso to resign,” Bayo Onanuga said on his X handle, @aonanuga1956.
