President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep awareness of the struggles Nigerians face in the current economic climate, vowing that his administration will work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering.

In a nationwide address on Tuesday to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, the President acknowledged the rising cost of living and the challenges of unemployment many citizens are enduring.

“Fellow Nigerians, as I address you today, I am deeply aware of the struggles many of you face in these challenging times. Our administration knows that many of you are grappling with the rising costs of living and the search for meaningful employment,” Tinubu stated, assuring citizens that their concerns had not gone unnoticed.

He urged Nigerians to remain patient as the government’s reforms begin to take effect, promising that there is hope on the horizon.

“Better days are ahead of us. The challenges of the moment must remind us to believe in ourselves. We are resilient and tenacious people. We always rise above our circumstances,” he added, reinforcing his confidence in Nigeria’s collective strength.

Tinubu emphasized the government’s commitment to finding sustainable solutions, pledging to continue working towards a brighter future.

He called on Nigerians to unite behind the administration’s efforts to transform the country, highlighting the importance of shared success and opportunities for all.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since gaining independence, Tinubu paid tribute to the nation’s founding fathers and their vision for a prosperous and united country.

He noted that despite setbacks, Nigeria has made significant progress, pointing to the nation’s resilience through crises, including the civil war.

“While it is tempting to focus on what remains undone, we must not lose sight of how far we have come,” Tinubu said, adding that Nigeria has survived numerous crises that had dissolved other nations, and it remains strong, united, and viable.

The President reiterated his administration’s decision to pursue reform, explaining that the choice was between maintaining the status quo, which would lead to collapse, or undertaking critical changes for progress.

“We decided to reform our political economy and defence architecture,” he declared.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to join hands with the government in building a greater nation, ensuring that every citizen could access opportunities and a brighter future for all.

He called for reflection on the country’s journey and a renewed commitment to building a better Nigeria for present and future generations.
