President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive to the Nigerian Army to eliminate insecurity in Zamfara State and the North-West.
The order was conveyed by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar during a visit to assess the progress of Operation Fansan Yamma North- West.

He highlighted the significant deployment of troops and the notable progress made thus far.
“President Tinubu is deeply concerned about the security situation in the North-West, particularly Zamfara, and has instructed the troops to eradicate insecurity in the region,” he said.
During his visit, the minister commended the troops’ readiness and urged them to intensify their efforts against notorious bandit leaders.
He expressed optimism about the operation’s success and encouraged community cooperation and prayers for the troops.
The minister’s visit included a tour of Combat 2, 17 Brigade and the Forward Operation Base of Operation Fansan Yamma.
He praised the troops for their relentless efforts in securing the Tsafe-Shema-Gusua road, acknowledging recent successes and urging them to maintain the momentum.
In a meeting with the Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, the minister briefed him on the purpose of his visit and government’s resolve to address the security challenges facing the state.
