President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the bill to revert to Nigeria’s old national anthem.
Tinubu assented to the bill on Wednesday, the day he marked his first anniversary as Nigeria’s president.
The House of Representatives last week Tuesday passed a bill mandating the nation to revert to the old National Anthem, “Nigeria We Hail Thee.”
The bill, sponsored by the leader of the House, Julius Ihonvbare, was presented for a second reading on Thursday, May 23.
It was considered by the committee of the whole, approved, and read for the third time.
The bill will now be sent to the Senate for concurrence before being sent to the president for assent.
Details later.
