Brazil’s national team coach, Tite has stepped down as head of the team after leading the Selecao to a dismal showing at the World Cup in Qatar.

Favourite, Brazil crashed out of the tournament on Friday after losing 2-4 to Croatia on penalties in the quarter-final.

Tite announced his departure from the team shortly after the loss to Croatia.

Croatia had pulled an upset on Friday, knocking World Cup favourite, Brazil out of the tournament 4-2 on penalties.

The match ended goalless on duration time, which necessitated an extra-time. It was 1-1 on extra time, with penalty shootout needed to decide which team goes into the semi-finals.

Croatia converted all four penalties while Brazil missed two and crashed out of the tournament just like they did in 2018 when they were knocked out by Belgium in the quarter-finals.

Neymar had opened scoring for Brazil during extra-time.

He ran on to a clever pass from Lucas Paqueta and found himself one-on-one with the keeper and finished with aplomb into the back of the net.

Croatia equalised three minutes to the end of the match. Mislav Orsic passed the ball to Bruno Petkovic and he fired in a shot from the edge of the box which was deflected. Alisson could not do anything about it.

Cafu, the legendary Brazil right-back, looks absolutely shell-shocked in the stands when Brazil crashed out.

Brazil fans were in tears after a another disappointed showing at the tournament.
