From Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin Kebbi
A political group under the aegis of Tinubu Kauran Gwandu (TKG) has commended the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for embarking on many development projects across the state.
The group, consisting of many political organisations, held their first meeting in Birnin Kebbi, which lasted for many hours.
While briefing newsmen about the purpose of their meeting, the founder of the group, Engr. Umar Ahmad Farouk, who is also the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), explained that their meeting was to brainstorm about the performances of the Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, and appreciate his efforts to transform the state.
According to him, “what transpired here today is the amalgamation of different people who are strongly behind the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris. The fact of the matter is that in the last 24 years of democracy in Nigeria, in Kebbi State, we have never had it so nice, so good like this administration.
“You can see all the transformation agenda across the state. It is very clear to us that this governor is the people’s servant. He wants to serve the people, and that is why we are all gathered here to appreciate him and to be his ambassadors all over the state to promote his good projects, good performances. That is it.”
Faruku, who did not erase the possibility of mobilising for the governor in the future elections in the state if he wishes to vie for any position, noted that the group would serve as his strong pillar for him to actualise his dream.
He said there were strong reasons why we formed TKG. It will be a structure for his political ambition in 2027, which I believe, and if he doesn’t, we will push him to do it.”
Earlier, the Kebbi State chairman of TKG, Alhaji Kabir Jega, appealed to the group local government coordinators to support their elected local government chairmen in their efforts to deliver dividends of democracy to the electorates at the grassroots.
He assured the stakeholders at the meeting that he would take the association to the ward level from the local government level.
In his remark, Special Adviser to the Governor on Power and Political Matters, Alhaji Kabir Sani Giant, solicited the support of LGA chairmen for the association.
He appealed to all the elected council chairmen to support the governor’s administration to succeed in an effort to improve the welfare of the people and charged the coordinators of TKG to cooperate with their local government chairmen.
Local government chairmen of the TKG were appointed as ambassadors of the association, and they were given their certificates of appointment.
