LAGOS – It was pomp and ceremony on Sunday as Lion Toyin Kennedy-Olatunde was installed as the second president of Lagos United Lions Club District 404B2 Nigeria.
The event was also used to install other executive members of the club for 2024/25 Lions Club service year and raise funds for activities that have been planned for the year.
Speaking at the event, Kennedy-Olatunde said that the legacy project of the year will be the renovation of Sijuade Nursery and Primary School, Surelere, Lagos.

She said that the school does not have electricity, good furniture and other basic facilities, adding that the roofs of the classrooms are leaking.
“The two crèche classes are nothing to write home about and we plan to upgrade them to acceptable standard. Children are the leaders of tomorrow and they will not become good leaders if they do have basic education. The pupils of Sijuade Nursery and Primary School are a priority for me as president of Lagos United Lions Club and we intend to upgrade infrastructure in the school and ensure that the quality of learning and teaching in the school improves,” Kennedy-Olatunde stated.

She called on public spirited individuals and organisations to join the club in the quest to empower the less privileged in society.
Also speaking at the event, Lion Elizabeth Oluwaseun Makinde, charter president of the club, said that the club executed projects such as environmental exercise and donation of cleaning materials, bodysuits, sanitation equipment and others to the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital.
Lion Makinde also disclosed that the club also empowered youths and engaged in sensitization and awareness campaigns against drug abuse.
She stated that the club also engaged in campaigns against diabetes and other activities during her presidency.
However, the District Governor of Lions Club District 404B2 Nigeria, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, charged member of Eko United Lions Club to work as a team in order to realize the objectives of the club.
Present at the event were Lion Wesley Shodiya and Lion Kayode Oshunuga, former district governors of the zone. Lion Oluwakemi Eribake, first vice district governor; Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere, second deputy district governor; Dr Ibilade Adesokan, chairman, Into Group. The special guest of honour was Chief Tony Unigwe.
