LAGOS – Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested two individuals believed to be involved in kidnapping in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The military operation, conducted on the 16th of September 2024, resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and a stockpile of ammunition.
In a press release, Capt Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, stated that the troops acted on intelligence, leading to an operation aimed at dismantling the criminal group.
This syndicate, known for engaging in various criminal activities such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and illicit arms trafficking, has been under close surveillance by the military.

The official statement singled out Ali Tambaya from Wanzani village as a significant figure within the syndicate, apprehended with an AK-47 rifle and 42 rounds of 7.62MM special ammunition in his possession.
During the initial investigation, Ali Tambaya spilled the beans that he copped the rifle from Alhaji Dandi for N500,000 around 5 years back and bought each ammunition for N1000. He spilled that Alhaji Kiwo handed him 38 out of the 42 rounds for safekeeping.
The troops swiftly went after the other suspects and nabbed Alhaji Dandi while they are hot on the trail to collar Alhaji Kiwo.
The Brigade hailed the troops’ dedication and reiterated their resolve to wipe out criminal elements in Taraba State, ensuring tranquility for all residents.
“The public is implored to keep feeding security forces with prompt and precise intel, as the military-civilian partnership remains pivotal in securing enduring peace,” the statement concluded.
