    The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Remacare, Cuso and others have marked the 16 Days activities on Gender Based Violence in Nigeria.

    The 16 day program of activities on gender based violence in Nigeria was a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness and promoting action against gender based violence.

    The program, which ran from November 25th to December 10th, featured a range of activities including conferences, workshops, seminars, under 17 football competition and public campaigns.

    The program was organized by a coalition of civil society organizations, government agencies, and international partners, including the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, the United Nations Population Fund, and the African Union.

    The program kicked off with a high-level conference in Abuja, where government officials, civil society leaders, and international partners gathered to discuss the challenges and solutions to gender based violence in Nigeria.

    The conference featured a range of expert panel discussions and interactive sessions, as well as the launch of a national campaign to end gender based violence.

    Throughout the 16 days, the program featured a range of activities aimed at raising awareness and promoting action against gender based violence.

    These activities included workshops and seminars on topics such as the legal framework for addressing gender based violence, the impact of gender based violence on women and girls, and effective strategies for preventing and responding to gender based violence.

    The program also featured public campaigns and events, including community dialogues, street theatre, and public art installations. These activities aimed to engage the public in discussions about gender based violence and promote a culture of respect and equality for all.

    Overall, the 16 day program of activities on gender based violence in Nigeria was a success, with significant engagement from government, civil society, and the public.

    The program generated widespread media coverage and public dialogue on the issue of gender based violence, and laid the groundwork for ongoing efforts to prevent and respond to this pervasive problem.

    The grand finale of the 16 days activism in Ogoja took place at Adagom 1 settlement with several activities from the POCs to mark the event, some of this event are; Dance display, Gele tying competition, entertainment by host community, did exhibition amongst others.

    In attendance are, UNHCR, CRSEMA, Security Agencies, traditional rulers council and youths of the host community, Caritas Nigeria, Red Cross Society, Remacare, Cuso, Mediatrix, save the children, CorAfrica-Nigeria and a host of other partners under the umbrella of the UNHCR.
