Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has called on leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are aggrieved over one issue or another to put the past behind them and come together to rescue the party.
Fayose said that he was seeking peace, stating that it was not his wish for the embattled party to die. He urged the leaders to stop fighting him because he had no future political ambition.
The ex-governor, who stated this yesterday in Ado Ekiti at a meeting of his Osoko Political Assembly (OPA), a faction of the party loyal to him, said that it is only when the PDP puts its house in order that it could confront the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
He, however, cautioned those raising eyebrows over his support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, saying that those expecting him to go to war with a man seeking peace are wasting their time.
“Oyebanji has visited me 13 times since his assumption of office. We made enemies in our time, but Oyebanji came and said he has no enemy. I have said it before and I am saying it again that I will never join APC.
“I see what the governor is doing. Do you want me to go to the television and run him down? Oyebanji is looking for peace. I can’t go to war with him.
“When we get to the election, we will confront APC, that is if we put our house in order. Now it is not in order. Let all of us come together and rebuild the PDP. Stop fighting me, I am not the problem.”
He, however, warned that he would fight those who say he does not matter but urged everyone to put the past behind because of the followers of the party.
According to him, he made many people fight him to become who they are, wondering why people would rise to stardom through him and then turn around to fight him.
