    Vice President, Kashim Shettima has paid one day working visit to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger state where he also announced the federal government’s N3 billion support for each of the states ravaged by flood and insecurity.

    The Vice President spoke shortly after visiting victims of armed bandits attack, adding that 3 billion Naira is being released to each of the deserving states grappling with flooding and insecurity across the country.

    “This visit is a symbolic gesture, we have come on assessment tour and I want to assure the government and people of Niger state that the President is poised to assist all the states affected in addressing flood control and security challenges”.

    The Vice listed some states that needed urgent support and would get the 3 billion Naira financial support to include; Borno, Sokoto, Niger, Bayelsa and Jigawa.

    “We will do assessment and as well be scientific in our approach and all states that deserve to be supported will be fully supported because governance is all about the people and the President has the people in his mind as he sleeps and wake up with Nigerians on his mind and we will go round the country and offer empathy and support”.

    “We are here with the Minister of Information, Muhammed Idris Malagi and the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi both of them from Niger state with the Director General NEMA. We are here with the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President leading a high powered team and of course the Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq”.

    He said, “We will support our people, it is not all about politics, it is about governance, it is about ameliorating the living conditions of our people”.

    The Vice President who also spoke on dearth of infrastructure said the President is fair enough to have intervened in the area of accessible roads, adding that the road where the tanker explosion that claimed about 50 lives is being considered.

    Vice President Shettima however said, “The needs are humongous and the federal government will do it’s utmost best to address the poor infrastructural deficit across the length and breath of Nigeria”.

    “Nigeria is a big nation nearly a million square kilometers, enough needs to be done and a lot is been done”, Vice President Shettima said as he called for the continued support of all Nigerians to achieve desired results.
