WASSCE 2024 will go on despite NLC, TUC strike, WAEC says

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has insisted that the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examinations, WASSCE will not be affected by the ongoing national strike.
The examination body said this in a statement issued by T. A. Y Lawanson, the Branch Controller for Head of National Office of WAEC on Monday morning.
The statement reads: “The attention of the management has been fdrawn to a notice of commencement of indefinite strike by NLC and TUC effective Monday, 3rd June, 2024.

“Please, be formally informed that the conduct of WASSCE 2024 goes on as scheduled.
“In as much as we share concerns of the unions and generality of Nigerians, the WASSCE SC is going on across the member countries of WAEC and the Nigerian child should not be put to a disadvantage of missing the exam.
“For aforesaid reason, WAEC will conduct the exam and school principals, supervisors, parents and general public should please take note and make adequate arrangements for their candidates to sit the exam.”
