Factional group purporting to be IPOB’s Political Wing, IPW, has responded to Emma Powerful, the spokesperson for the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), asserting that they are not backed by the Directorate of State Services, DSS.

IPW emphasized the need for Powerful and Chinasa Nworu, another prominent figure of the group, to awaken to the evolving realities.

In a statement released by its spokesperson, Mazi Nwachukwu Emereonye, and shared with journalists on Wednesday, IPW explicitly refuted the allegations made by Emma Powerful regarding their alleged affiliation with the DSS.

They clarified that the IPOB Political Wing is dedicated to advancing the cause of Igbo liberation through a more strategic approach, devoid of any ties to the DSS.

Furthermore, IPW highlighted that the pursuit of self-determination has transcended violent means, emphasizing the importance of strategic methodologies.

Drawing attention to the situation in Gaza, they urged Powerful and Nworu to draw insights from global events.

“We recently established the IPOB Political Wing following indirect consultations with Nnamdi Kanu. Our objective is to sustain the Biafran agenda through political and diplomatic means,”stated Emereonye.

Questioning Emma Powerful’s whereabouts and visibility, the group pointed out the incongruities in his claims and criticized Nworu for misleading Igbo youths while residing abroad.

IPW stressed that their initiative is not orchestrated by the DSS but rather a patriotic endeavor aimed at advancing Igbo emancipation. They cited Scotland’s political success as a model to emulate and advocated for a shift towards strategic political engagements rather than futile confrontations.

“The era of violence in the pursuit of self-determination is outdated. Achieving our goals now requires astute political maneuvers. We urge our people to embrace wisdom,”concluded Emereonye.
