    The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed arrest of popular businessman and cryptocurrency billionaire, Linus Williams, better known as Blord by its cybercrime operatives

    Olumoyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the Nigerian Police confirmed the arrest in a short statement he published on his X handle on Tuesday.

    He said Blord was arrested because the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID in investigating allegations of internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding,
    and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks among others against him.

    “The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against BLORD GROUP, BLORD REAL ESTATE LTD, BLORD JETPAYE LIMITED, and BILLPOINT TECHNOLOGY. These offences include allegations bothering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.

    “We will do due diligence in our investigations. Our cyber space in Nigeria must be safe and secured by all means. We are committed to achieving that,” the Force Public Relations Officer said in the statement.

    Adejobi did not elaborate on the nature of the crimes or whether police acted on complaints of alleged victims of Blord fraudulent activities.

    However, social media activist Verydarkman (VDM) had recently alleged that Blord refused to give attention to the complaints of some of his customers.

    VDM also claimed that the cryptocurrency trader abused him when he called his attention to the complaints.

    But it was not the first time that Blord will be arrested. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in August arrested him in his home in Awka, Anambra State over alleged involvement in internet fraud.

    The anti-graft agency also impounded his vehicles. However, Blord dragged EFCC to court and in a judgment delivered in May 2022, the court absolve him of the fraud allegations

    Breaking the news then on his Instagram post, Blord said: “I finally defeated and deflated @officialefcc in Federal High Court. My cars and properties (have) been released to me. Never believed at my age I will be fighting the Federal Government but I have to fight for what is mine. This is proof that the Nigerian justice system works.”
