British-Nigerian actress and film director, Laura Lake Adebisi has said Nigeria shouldn’t have been a country.
According to her, the ideological differences between the North and South are enough reasons for the country not to exist.
Speaking in a viral video, the movie star accused the British government of “empowering” the Nigerian government to stop Biafra’s secession to continue pillaging the country.
“The footprints of colonialism are over Nigeria. Nigeria should have never been a country! The difference in ideology from the northern side to the southern side is insane,” Adebisi said.
“When the Eastern side tried to secede and form Biafra, the ex-colonialists [Britain] were like, no, we don’t want that. So they instead empower Nigeria to crush that country.
“They were like, we want you guys to stay like this so we can continue to pillage and take all of your resources.
“So the footprints of colonialism are still all over Nigeria. It’s in the shape of the country. It’s on the map.”
Laura Lake Adebisi is an actor, director, screenplay, and producer known for While we wait (2023), True Haunting and EastEnders (1985).
She played the lead in various stage productions across the UK, including ‘Juliet’ in Southwark Playhouse’s 2022 production of Romeo & Juliet and also playing ‘Laura Jesson’ in The Watermill Theatre’s 2021 production of Brief Encounter.
Aside from her work in film, TV &Theatre , Laura also appeared in commercials for Specsavers & National Parks, as well as having done corporate jobs for clients such as Molton Brown, Fidelity Pensions, The Mix UK amongst others.
