ABUJA: As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence Anniversary, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has called on residents of Abuja to embrace unity, resilience, and collective responsibility. In a heartfelt message to commemorate the national day, the minister extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, applauding his administration for taking bold and necessary measures to drive Nigeria’s growth and development.

In his statement, Barr. Wike reflected on the enduring legacy of Nigeria’s founding fathers, whose sacrifices laid the foundation for the nation’s unity and prosperity. He emphasized the importance of continuing their vision by fostering peace, progress, and national cohesion.

“As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we occupy a special place in the heart of our nation. Abuja, as the seat of government, symbolizes the unity of our people from all corners of Nigeria. It is a melting pot of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions, all coexisting harmoniously,” Wike noted.

The minister highlighted that this year’s Independence celebration comes amid significant national challenges—economic instability, security concerns, and social upheaval. However, he called on residents of the FCT to lead by example, demonstrating resilience and commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.

“We must reflect on the spirit of this national day and take personal and collective responsibility for the development of our communities. Let us stand together to support security efforts, promote peace, protect our environment, and be our brother’s keeper,” Wike urged.
