    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five individuals involved in an alleged criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

    This information was revealed during a press briefing on Tuesday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, speaking on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed.

    Wakil clarified that one of the suspects arrested was a woman who was allegedly involved in receiving stolen tricycles from Kano State and then selling them in Bauchi State.

    The official statement mentioned the names and ages of the arrested individuals as follows: Maryam Ibrahim, also known as Ummi, aged 30; Adamu Sale, also known as Brother, aged 30; Umar Ibrahim, also known as Baba Luti, aged 31; Nasiru Usman, aged 29; and Nasiru Musa Umar, also known as Nass, aged 27.

    “Preliminary investigations have revealed that she has sold approximately seven stolen tricycles within Bauchi.

    “This successful operation was made possible through credible intelligence regarding suspicious activities and the hard work of the State Intelligence Department of the Bauchi State Police Command.”

    Wakil revealed that the recovered items included seven tricycles commonly known as Keke Napep.

     He emphasized that participating in the receipt of stolen goods is a grave offense with significant repercussions, as outlined in Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria.

    He mentioned that individuals convicted of this crime could potentially be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison.

    The PPRO expressed gratitude for the community’s support and collaboration in providing crucial information that facilitated the apprehension of the suspects.
