Former Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has revealed his choice for the best teammate he played with during his time at FC Barcelona.
Surprisingly, despite playing alongside football greats like Lionel Messi and Xavi, Toure selected Andres Iniesta, who recently retired from professional football, as his top pick.
Toure acknowledged the talents of both Messi and Xavi but noted that Iniesta had a special quality that distinguished him from the rest. He expressed great admiration for Iniesta’s playing style, highlighting the unique way the Spanish football star approached the game.
When asked to name his favorite teammate at Barcelona, Toure stated, “Messi was top, Iniesta was top, Xavi was great, but I will say Iniesta. He had something different. Playing with him, wow! It was something else.”
Toure played alongside Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi during his time at Barcelona from 2007 to 2010. His preference for Iniesta offers interesting insight into the dynamics of the star-studded Barcelona team during that period.
After leaving Barcelona, Toure joined Manchester City, where he played from 2010 to 2018. He retired from football in 2019 and is currently serving as an assistant coach for the Saudi Arabia national team.18:52
