A chieftain of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in the South-West, Alhaji Adebisi Adeyemi Olopoeyan, has told the former governor of Kano State, Senator Mohammed Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, that he is too greedy to lead Nigerians as president.
Olopoeyan explained that Senator Kwankwaso is too self-centered and authoritarian in nature thereby will not be possible for people to elect him to rule.
It will be recalled that Kwankwaso boasted while inaugurating a renovated NNPP party office in Katsina State last Saturday that he would be the next Nigerian president come 2027.
Olopoeyan in a statement on Monday noted that Kwankwaso made an authoritative statement, predicting a victory for himself in the 2027 presidential election, adding that his party is on course to take over the presidency and many states in the country.
But, reacting to Kwankwaso’s statement, Olopoeyan said the former NNPP presidential candidate is living in his dream because he is already using his Kwankwasiya group to destabilize the party at the national and almost all the states, saying Kwankwaso has no character and leadership trait to lead many people of different tribe, culture, religion, and language.
According to Olopoeyan, “A self-centered and domineering politician can not be Nigerian president; Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso needs to understand this. You can wish to rule a country of over 218.5 million but not be ready to accommodate people and give all sense of entitlement to whoever comes your way.

“Senator Kwankwaso is still aiming to use NNPP to drive his presidential ambition in 2027, yet he is disorganizing the party; he has forgotten that his Kwankwasiya group is only rooted in Kano, but not in existence in other states, especially in Southern states.
“Moreover, the fact that he was the only Presidential candidate in NNPP in 2023 doesn’t guarantee that the party will not have other aspirants in 2027; the ticket needs to be open and competitive in 2027, unlike in 2023 when he forced himself on the party leaders and members,” Olopoeyan said.
Speaking further, Olopoeyan advised him to learn more leadership from President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and other national political leaders, said it will take Kwankwaso a donkey years to match their leadership qualities.
He said it is an embarrassment for NNPP not to have a functioning NWC and zonal leaders with delegated power; added that the former Kano State governor vested all the power in himself.
“Senator Kwankwaso needs to stop doing everything by himself; he needs to learn from Tinubu, Atiku, Obasanjo, Jonathan and others. These are real political leaders, they build and empower their followers, also trust them with power, but Kwankwaso has assumed that his Kano group, Kwankwasiya is bigger than NNPP.
“That is why you see him and his group members everywhere in Kano’s neighboring states, commissioning party offices on behalf of NNPP, a ceremonial function that should have been left for NWC or zonal leaders to perform,” Olopoeyan added.
