Former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili has expressed his satisfaction with the decisions of Governor Siminalayi Fubara since his inauguration in May.

Dr. Odili expressed his confidence in Fubara at the 3rd Convocation and 6th Founders’ Day ceremonies of Pamo University of Medical Sciences.

The former governor noted that Fubara has hit the ground running since he came into power.

Odili said: “A good dance begins with the first step. Your first steps are correct. There is no doubt that you will dance well.”

Odili’s comments on Fubara came amid the rift between the governor and his godfather Nyesom Wike.

They (Odili and Fubara) both met with President Bola Tinubu on Monday in order to broker some level of peace.

Speaking at the Convocation on Tuesday, Fubara, on his part, expressed his commitment to ensuring peace in the state.

He noted that no price was too much for peace to reign in the state.

He said: “There is no price that will be too big to pay to ensure that peace prevails.”

Fubara assured that he was prepared to continue to pay the necessary price that would guarantee peace.

He also assured that the provision of a quality education system and affordable public healthcare services remained two vital priorities of his administration.

The governor said: “While some progress has been made, it is obvious that a lot still needs to be done to achieve our collective aspirations for universal access to quality education and healthcare for our people. I need not say that no society can progress without educated and healthy people.”
