Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday described Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State as an outstanding and an exceptional leader.

Shettima said this while showering the praises on Zulum who succeeded him as the governor of Borno State in 2019.

Shettima who spoke at his private residence in Maiduguri shortly after landing from Abuja for the Christmas and New Year break also praised Zulum for ‘making Borno great again’

The vice-president also thanked Zulum for honouring him in many ways by naming some of his special projects after his name.

Shettima said that the Zulum-led administration had made the residents proud for delivering a number of developmental projects amidst the challenges of insurgency in the state.

He said that the elders and political class would continue to appreciate Zulum for not letting them down and making Borno the centre of attraction before the national and international communities.

Shettima also extolled the governor’s leadership qualities, especially in maintaining a cordial relationship with his predecessor.

He said this was against what obtained in other states, adding, ”this is a clear demonstration of his excellent personality among the governors in the country.”

The vice president also thanked the people of Borno and other political stakeholders for supporting him in every given situation at the state and national level.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur, who spoke on behalf of the people and government of Borno; expressed their appreciation to the vice-president for the support he has been giving to the state.

Kadafur also thanked the people and top government functionaries for coming out en masse to welcome Shettima to his home town.

The deputy governor, however, prayed for God’s guidance and peaceful coexistence in the state and the country at large.

He, therefore, urged the political stakeholders to continue to provide the needed support and cooperation to their administration as it were.

One of the housing estates and a new Model Secondary School recently inaugurated by Zulum’s administration were named after the vice-president. (NAN)
