Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Dr Jamila Bio-Ibrahim has postponed the proposed National Council on Youth Development scheduled to hold this year.
Dr Jamila Bio-Ibrahim said, this is in commiseration with the government and people of Bornu State over the recent devastation and the grief caused by flood to the community.
Assuring the people of the State of the Ministry’s support, she said, “We affirm the Ministry’s support to the development of youth in Nigeria and in particular Borno State Youth.
The Minister said, “On behalf of the entire Youth of Nigeria , we are deeply saddened by the recent flood devastation that occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, which has left a trail of destruction and displacement in its wake.
“Our hearts go out to the Executive Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the resilient people of Borno State, who have been affected by this unprecedented natural disaster.

“We commiserate with those who have lost loved ones, properties, and livelihoods due to the flood. We pray for the quick recovery of the affected areas and the restoration of normalcy to the lives of the people.
“We also applaud the efforts of the Borno State Government, emergency responders, and humanitarian organizations who are working tirelessly to provide relief and support to the affected communities.
“Due to the devastation and the grief that this has caused to the community, we therefore regret to inform you that the proposed National Council on Youth Development scheduled to hold sometimes this year has been postponed indefinitely in solidarity with the people on this disaster.
“Meanwhile, we affirm the Ministry’s support to the development of youth in Nigeria and in particular Borno State Youth.
“May God bless and comfort the people of Borno State in this difficult time. Dr Jamila Bio-Ibrahim prayed.
