The Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his generous donation of 70 trucks of fertilizer in support of agricultural activities in Kano. This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday.
During the inauguration of rural access roads in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, the governor announced that the President had graciously provided 70 trucks of fertilizer to be promptly distributed to farmers in the state.
The governor expressed his delight and extended his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the government and the people of Kano for the President’s gesture.
“Kano remains steadfast in its commitment to agricultural transformation by ensuring the accessibility and affordability of high-quality agricultural inputs to enhance crop production within the state” he said.
Previously, the governor had directed the state-owned Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) to begin extensive production of fertilizer in preparation for the upcoming rainy season, with the objective of aiding smallholder farmers across the state.
As one of Nigeria’s leading crop-producing states, Kano is blessed with vast arable land suitable for cultivating staple crops such as rice, maize, soybeans, groundnuts, sesame, hibiscus, and sorghum.
