Delta Air Lines has clinched the 11th spot on the Top 50 Most Admired Companies list.

According to the list put together by Fortune Magazine, the company is the most admired in the airline segment of the ranking.

Reacting to the ranking, Delta CEO Ed Bastian, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said “For 11 years in a row, the Delta team has earned a prominent spot on Fortune’s ranking of Most Admired Companies. This recognition is incredibly well deserved for the world’s greatest team who keeps soaring no matter what challenges they encounter on a daily basis.”

“Delta scored 6.57 overall in the rankings; the next-highest score for a US airline was 4.89.”

According to the airline, to maintain an elevated level of operational excellence, Delta people propel the industry forward with a relentless focus on raising the bar at every stage of the travel journey.

“Delivering safe and reliable service for our customers is what continuously promotes a culture of strong trust and performance. Our people are the reason that Delta is the most awarded airline in the industry,” it stated.

In January, the airline announced a $1.4bn profit-sharing payout for its 100,000 employees.

The payout, which was from Delta’s 2023 profit, will be paid on Valentine’s Day.

Delta said that its strong 2023 earnings and the profit-sharing payout were direct results of the exceptional work and commitment of its staff throughout a challenging operational year.

In 2023, Delta grew its network by double digits and served nearly 200 million customers worldwide.

Bastian declared, “No one deserves to share in our success more than the 100,000 Delta people who make it happen every single day.

“It’s our people that set us apart, and their hard work, professionalism and commitment to excellence that makes this well-deserved profit sharing possible.”
