A former Senator representing Kaduna Central in the defunct 8th National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has urged the State lawmakers to invite Ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai to give an account of the finances under his government between 2015 and 2023.

According to him, interrogating the former aides of El-Rufai will lead to nothing if he is not invited to answer questions on the domestic and foreign debts allegedly mismanaged under his administration.

Sani in a statement on Facebook, said, “The adhoc committee set up to conduct a comprehensive fact-finding into financial dealings, the status of executed contracts, loans, grants, and project implementation from 2015-2023 has commenced its clarification session.”

He pointed out that “it would be recalled that the committee set up to probe the past regime of Elrufai has engaged in detailed discussions with several key present and past government officials, including former Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, Honorable Manzo Maigari; Former KADPPA Boss and Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Honorable Thomas Gyang, Commissioner and Administrator of Zaria Metropolitan Authority, Hajia Balaraba Aliyu, amongst others.”

Sani remarked while speaking on the interrogation of former advisers, commissioners and others by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, that for a thorough probe to be carried out by the lawmakers, El-Rufai should be drilled to account for his stewardship and how the huge debts burden were incurred for the State.

He noted that “it is only Elrufai that can answer questions on the loans and even the whereabout of Kaduna shares of the Paris refund, excess crude funds, ecological funds, stamp duties funds as well as billions in loans collected from the Central Bank and other domestic banks.”

Sani stressed further that “it is only Elrufai that can give the required information about all those contractor and consultants that took monies and ran away as well as all those who benefitted from the sharing of Kaduna State properties”.

He observed that those involved should count themselves lucky he is not the one investigating the matter as he has no time for games.

He insisted that “recovering Kaduna’s looted $350 million World Bank loan cannot be achieved by only inviting and interrogating the former Commissioners and Advisers, without inviting and interrogating the former Governor to answer questions on the loan; as well as explain the whereabouts of Kaduna’s Share of Paris refund, Excess Crude funds, Stamp Duties Funds, Ecological Funds and the Billions in loans collected from the Central Bank and Domestic Banks.

“All those contractors and useless consultants who took money and runaway and all those who benefited from the sharing of Kaduna State properties and are still enjoying themselves, should count themselves lucky that it’s not Shehu Sani. I don’t have time for playing games,” Sani said.
