Kogi State Police Command has arrested 20-year-old Paul Jeremiah for the alleged murder of Damilola, a 19-year-old first year female student at the Federal University, Lokoja.

Police Public Relations Officer SP William Ovie Aya confirmed Jeremiah’s arrest on Thursday.

The PPRO did not disclose the details of how Jeremiah, who is also a first year student in the same university, was apprehended but confirmed that he is currently in police custody.

He added that investigation is underway to determine the details surrounding the incident.

However, it was gathered that after killing her, Jeremiah, an indigene of Kaduna state, allegedly removed her private parts.

Damilola was reported missing on September 4, 2024.

According to sources, the suspect kidnapped Damilola and took her to an uncompleted building.

After demanding and receiving a ransom of N400,000 from her family, he decided to kill her and removed her vital organs for ritual purposes.

After the tragic incident, the suspect reportedly contacted her family again, demanding an additional N10 million.

However, he was tracked down by police to his location and got arrested.

The suspect allegedly confessed to acting alone and led authorities to the shallow grave where he buried her remains, stating that he took her life because she had seen his face after the abduction.
