Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, believes that the just-concluded Nigerian Navy Inter-Command Games will aid the selection of representatives for the Armed Forces Games scheduled to hold in June.

Ogalla, represented by Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan, said this at the maiden Nigerian Navy Inter-Command Football, Volleyball and Tug-of-War Competition held at Navy Town, Lagos.

He said that the games is also aimed at developing talents within the Navy, fostering cooperation between the force and its neighbouring communities, as well as a platform for raising athletes for Nigeria.

Ogalla noted that the outcome of the games is a testament to the hard work and dedication of participating officers, adding that while the game is a demonstration of the level of fitness of the officers, it is also an avenue to promote team spirit within the Navy.

In the football category, Eastern Naval Command came first, followed by Logistics Command and Naval Training Command respectively. Eastern Naval Command also won the female category of the tug-of-war, followed by Naval Headquarters (silver) and Naval Training Command (bronze), while the Naval Training Command won gold in the male category, followed by Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command.

Naval Training Command emerged as the overall champions of the games.
