A non-profit organisation, Health Emergency Initiative and Spectranet Limited have forged a partnership to address child malnutrition at its root, providing vital support to those in need.

This is as Spectranet Limited donated a sum of 1.1 million naira to support the project.

Health Emergency Initiative in a statement on Thursday said the donation was utilised judiciously used for its purpose.

It said those who were assisted include 46 mothers and their 50 children in three primary healthcare centres named: PHC Akerele, PHC Ejire and Maternal & Child Care, Randle Hospital in the Surulere Local Government Area in Lagos State, who were acutely malnourished, transforming their lives with love, care, and access to ready to use therapeutic food items.

The Executive Director at Health Emergency Initiative, Mr. Paschal Achunine, in the statement said, “We are deeply honoured and excited to partner with Spectranet Limited for this pivotal mission. Their dedication to creating positive change aligns perfectly with our vision of a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we are taking significant strides towards breaking the vicious cycle of malnutrition and giving these children a chance at a brighter future.”

The statement added that the community-based intervention provided much-needed nutritional support, medical care, and counselling to the affected families, creating an environment of hope and healing.

It further noted that local healthcare professionals, trained by Health Emergency Initiative, worked tirelessly to implement tailored nutrition plans, ensuring each child received the personalized care they needed to recover and flourish.

“We believe in the power of connectivity to drive change, and that goes beyond providing internet services,” said Sapna Kewalramani, Executive Director at Spectranet Limited. “Through this partnership with Health Emergency Initiative, we are actively investing in the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Witnessing the positive impact of our collective efforts on these children’s lives is both heartwarming and humbling.

“The results of the project have been awe-inspiring, with over 60% of children responding remarkably to the care and support received. Families expressed their gratitude, sharing stories of renewed hope and brighter futures. The transformation in the children’s appearances was evident, reflecting the transformative effect of adequate nutrition and compassionate care,” the statement added.
