Rivers woman attempting selling 5-year-old son arrested

The Rivers State Police Command says it is investigating alleged attempt by a woman to sell her five-year-old boy child at Bishop Okoye Street, Mile 3 Market Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Irige-Koko who confirmed the incident said that the woman was brought to the Police station by some persons who alleged she came to the market to sell her child.
Koko disclosed that the command is investigating to ascertain the veracity of the eyewitnesses’ claims.

The details and circumstances surrounding the report were hazy at time of filing this report.
However, Mr Nelson Tasie, a former Vice-Chairman of Goat Meat Sellers Association, Bishop Okoye branch in an interview with journalists disclosed that the woman came to the market on Saturday 24th, 2024 to sell her child, citing acute poverty as her reason.
Tasie said he advised that the woman should be taken to the Police station for Investigation.
